I have a Alienware 17 R3 laptop and I just started working on a project that requires me to export my video to the DVCAM Tape Deck (DSR-45A). My laptop only has USB 3, USB-C 3.1 (Thunderbolt capable) and HDMI 2.0 outputs. I've been searching all over to find a solution and nobody seems to be able to help me with that. I'm pretty desperate at this point since I need to get it all set up asap.
You need a computer with a 1394 (Firewire) port. 1394 ports stopped being included on PCs several years ago, but if you have access to a desktop PC with an open PCI-e slot, you can still get a 1394 add-in card for $20-30.
Are you supplying a video to a cable station/TV station? Perhaps there is another delivery method they would let you use, tape is so antiquated!
