Mac Pro (OSX) to a simple SONY RGB monitor
on Dec 26, 2012 at 10:11:57 am

I have a Mac Pro (2x2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon) which right now connects to a simple SONY 8041Q video monitor through a DVCAM unit (RCA to BNC adapters)

In order to view the output from my Mac to the SONY monitor (how it prints to video), I send the video via Firewire to a DVCAM unit from my Mac.

I have standard DVI video outputs to my two Mac monitors.

How can I view video from my Mac to the SONY monitor without having to go to the DVCAM unit? Perhaps a USB video card to RCA video....or USB video card from DVI to RCA?

Ideas? Bueller?

Thanks,

Monitor video from what, FCP 7? How about a Matrox MXO2 Mini or LE, with component video to the monitor? You'll also have the option to use any TV with HDMI as a monitor and with the LE you get SDI as well.

I have used the video output from FCPs "print to video" through MXO2's many times without issue.

Well, some I/O device like Matrox and AJAs offerings should be just what you need. Excellent Capture, Monitor and Output, both with up/down/cross conversion.

I just double checked, and there are new Matrox drivers out that support:

"Matrox MXO2 Mini with MAX v2.6 (build 23) software for Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and Lion (10.7.5). This software supports Apple Final Cut Pro 7.0.3, Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5.2, Apple Compressor 3.5.3 and 4.0.5, Adobe Media Encoder 5.5.1, and Avid Media Composer 5.5.3."

...finally a unified driver for "the three As". You used to have to uninstall drivers/reboot/install other drivers/reboot between Apple, Adobe or Avid. If this version doesn't match your OS and APP versions, Matrox has a nice archive of past drivers available.
