Building a new 3D/Editing system

---wrong category, meant to post elsewhere. Please disregard. Thanks---

Hi all.

I'd love feedback for quality parts to build a new computer, it should handle any and all software thrown at it! :)
Will be working with 4k + footage, compositing, and 3D

-3DS Max
-Real flow
-Adobe suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop etc)
-Autodesk Smoke
-Compositing software (Nuke, After Effects etc, etc)

What is worth the investment, and what isn't...
Are the Quadro cards, from Nvidia, really worth it?
Does anyone have the Tesla setup with a Quadro?
How about 64 gigs of ram? I also hear it's not that big a deal... Not sure if I agree with that. Thoughts?
What motherboard would be best suited for this purpose?
Solid state hard drives don't store as much as I'd like, and more than I'd like to pay. Are they that much faster? I'd really like 2+TB drives.

With all that 3D and compositing, you definitely want a Quadro card. I'd say the Quadro4000 is the minimum, the Quadr5000 would be worth the extra bucks.

Only a handful of programs take advantage of the Tesla technology. After Effects and Premiere CS6 do. Before you invest in Tesla, you want to make sure the programs you use most can tap into it.

If you check out our DIY9 guide, I think you'll have a great starting point for building your own workstation
