HDMI VS SDI? Which one is better

My Camera is SD/HD capable. When connecting it to a machine I get the choice of SDI & HDMI. Which one is better quality and why?

All the Best!

Quality-wise they both carry uncompressed digital signal so the quality should be the same as long as it's the same signal.

Personally, I'd always prefer SDI. HDMI just has this consumerish stigma about it. Ever heard of gold-plated HD-SDI cables? Neither have I, and hope never will.

In favor of SDI: time code, robust connectors and cables, much longer cable runs.

HDMI 1.4a supports resolutions higher than 1080 and more signal types (3D, 4K, etc.)
