I'm about to purchase an entry level dslr. I have my decision narrowed down to either the Canon T3i or the Nikon D3100. I'm running Avid MC5 for my nle. Specifically my question is this, if my objective is to shoot short films in 720p rather than 1080p, mainly due to file size, is the Nikon 3100 better because it shoots 720p at 24fps? The T3i only shoots at 24fps @ 1080p. My hangup is the T3i has an external mic jack and much better low light shooting capabilities. I want the cinema look of a true 24 fps. I will upgrade in a little over a year when I have more experience. If anyone is familiar with these cameras and pros and cons please chime in.
