FInally buying all the compnents to build my own video editing machine. The DIY 7 had the Quadro FX 1800 has the graphics card. I was thinking about upgrading that to the 3800. But I see this past July a new graphics card came out that is approved with Adobe Mercury Playback engine. Any thoughts on the PNY VCQ4000 to the Quadro 3800?
After I posted this I went to the Adobe Forums Hardware section and someone recommended the GeForce GTX 470. It is on Adobe's suggested Video Card list for the Mercury Engine. Any thoughts on that as well
Hardware-wise, the GTX 470 sits in between the Quadro 5000 and the Quadro 6000. The GTX 470 has 448 CUDA cores like the Quadro 6000 and a 320-bit GDDR5 memory bus like the Quadro 5000. (For the record, the Quadro 6000 has a 384-bit GDDR5 memory bus like the GTX 480 while the Quadro 5000 has only 352 CUDA cores like the GTX 465.) With only 256 CUDA cores and a 256-bit GDDR5 memory bus, the Quadro 4000 has lesser hardware specs than all of the other Fermi-based cards except for the recently introduced GTS 450 (which has 192 CUDA cores and a 128-bit GDDR5 memory bus).
