does anybody know which of these two external drives (4TB) is best for video editing? i previously ran two internal disks and recently suffered a multiple hard disk crash so i now have an OS disk internally and plan to keep my work strictly eSATA.
Also, on the offchance that anyone out there uses either the Lacie or the G-Tech, it would be helpful to hear your preferred RAID config.
Asus P6T Deluxe
Intel i7 2.6Ghz
Nvidia GTX 285
12Gb DDR3 Corsair RAM
Windows 7 x64
From what I researched the Lacie is not that loved.
G-Tech had problems in the past but in recent times I think they resolved them. I wanted to buy a G Speed Q but it wasn't ready in time.
I bought a bare box Promise Smartstor DS4600 and it was cheaper in the end to populate.
i have been assured that the lacie is a vast improvement over past lacie attempts and is actually a pretty solid drive. given that it is a fraction of the cost of a g-tech g-speed es pro, i am going to be brave and go with it.
