Grass Valley Firecoder

Anyone ever use this card?

I am looking to add real time editing to the system I just completed building.

I was on a Core2Due.

Now I am on 2 Dual core Xeons. I do a lot with HDV in PP and just get tired of the long render times.

I know I should see huge performance just with the new system but if I can find something for 200 - 300 that will add speed I want to look into it.

Firecoder blue speeds renders (file exports), it's particularly useful for mpeg2 and H.264, also up/down scaling files.

If u want real time performance you should try Edius (also from grass valley). It should fly on a Xeon!
The stand alone version requires a firewire port, and that's pretty much it.

I also work on premiere cs4, but don't really like, just keep it to open red camera files, but all the real work I do it on Edius since it can works with dpx files.
