Solid State Disks

Has anyone started using solid state disks yet with video editing systems?

If so, what has been your experience?

Easy/Hard to build systems?

Configuration?

Reliable data?

Thanks!

Bruce

This is one of the better performing SSD vendors from my research:

HI,
the only one worth it (well 2)
is either Mtron or Intel X25

the rest have jmicron controllers that are just junk.

the write speeds on SSD even the Intel is only 80meg/s which is slower than a standard Sata (90+meg/s)

the read speeds are awesome but what does read speeds do for editing?

for edting the only point to an SSD is as an OS drive, this makes things snapper but is it worth $500 to be snapper.
@ only 80G size i find it near impossible to recommend them.

when you can get a 500G SSD @ $400 then yes.
give it a few yrs
