I'm a newby. To do real-time NLE on a notebook PC with a mini-DV camera, do I need a capture card? If so, what's available for a notebook with PCMCIA, firewire ports, USB, etc? I'll be using Premier 6.5 and connecting my camera via firewire.
There are a couple of ways you can go.
1) We have a Dazzle 1394 PCMCIA card that will work great with Premiere 6.5 for $69.95
2) To get even more real-time capability on your laptop check out the new Dazzle Realtime Video Producer. That system plus the PCMCIA FireWire card will cost $549.95 and has some great features. In addition to the new real-time features you get analog video in/out plus a great DVD authoring software. (The bundle also includes Premiere 6.5 but even if you already have that it is well worth the $500 price)
