I've run into a brick wall with this problem in the Avid forums, so hopefully someone here can help. I recently upgraded the XPress Pro system at work to Media Composer (software only). After the upgrade, Media Composer can no longer see the Sony DSR-1500A deck that I'd been using with Xpress Pro without a hitch. XP recognizes the deck as a "Sony DV Camera." Avid allows me to "add a channel," I select "Firewire." I then get this message: "You must select 1394 mode before configuring a deck." Herein lies the rub, there is no 1394 button above the time-line, and the "select a device" option in the "special" drop-down menu is blank. Is it possible that XP has control of the deck and is "hiding" it from Avid?
