Compiling a video with video clips of all different types
on Mar 8, 2008 at 12:50:25 am

I am trying to take various video clips I have and make them into one video. I have AVI files, MPEG-4 (from a new Sony HD video camera) and Windows Movie Maker videos. What software would I need to use that can read all these formats, and save them into one common format that I can upload to the internet or burn to a DVD? Thanks!

All the major NLEs should be able to handle this. Windows Movie Maker (WMM) might be a non-supported format, but I would think you could export from WMM to WMV or AVI.

Just keep in mind that you might have to stretch/crop/mask your clips to fill the frame and you might get fuzzy or distorted looking sections. You can work through some of this, but there might not be a "perfect" solution.
