...AND ANYBODY RECORDING VIA FIREWIRE TO DISK IN THE FIELD.
HAS ANYBODY FOUND A CREATIVE SOLUTION TO KEEPING THE MINI IEEE1394 CABLE SECURELY PLUGGED INTO YOUR CAMERA.
I USE A PANASONIC DVC30 AND HAVING A CHUNKY CABLE STICKING OUT OF THAT TINY FIREWIRE PORT IS FRIGHTENING. BUMPING THE THING RISKS LOSING SIGNAL OR WORSE DESTROYING THE PORT. TRIPOD MOUNTED, I CAN TAPE EVERYTHING UP REAL GOOD, BUT SHOOTING HANDHELD OR STABILIZER MOUNTED SEEMS WELL NIGH IMPOSSIBLE. I THINK I SAW THAT SOMEONE MAKES A IEEE1394 CABLE WITH A 90 DEGREE HEADER. ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE HERE...
NOOB TO THIS FORUM... I SEARCHED 1ST...SORRY IF IT HAS BEEN COVERED.
I have the DVC30 too. I use the firestore and I splurged and bought the mounting kit. It comes with a short firewire cable and reduces the chances of something getting caught on a longer cable.
I am not sure if that answers your question, if not... find a website that is dedicated to cables and see if they sell what you are looking for.
