Virtual Switcher?

Hey all,

I've done a bunch of searching, but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for...

I own a production company that covers auto racing events. At a given event, we have anywhere from 5 to 8 cameras. The size of the venue makes live switching impractical, so each cam records to its own tape or hard drive and we edit everything on a NLE when we get back to the office.

As you can imagine, following that cars around the track requires switching from one camera to the next in a predictable sequence, and this gets a little cumbersome on standard timeline (lots of cutting and deleting). I'd really like to find some software that mimics a live switcher as I edit- synch all clips on the timeline, hit play, and then switch between different clips as it rolls along.

Editware makes a hybrid system call the Fastrack that seems to do what I want, but it looks like it might break the bank!

Any other options?

Thanks,
Clark Cambern
