I recently had a local firm convert some old Super 8 home movies to DVD.
In several places, there was a considerable amount of rolling frames. I asked them about this and they said that it was most likely caused by damaged sprocket holes on the film. They went on to say that, while their equipment does not use the sprockets to advance the film, it does use them to line up the frames.
It seems that I recall there was some way to repair messed up sprockets. Unfortunately, Super 8 is so old that I doubt if the repair tape (if that is what it was) can be found now.
The people at the shop told me that they would be willing to review the tape to see what, if anything, they could do to resolve the problem. I would like to save these images if at all possible.
Do you have any suggestions? If this is not the right place to ask this question, I'd appreciate any suggestions as to which forum or web site I should go to.
If it is of any help, all of their equipment and software is Mac/Apple.
