Is my system drive fast enough? Do you need a fast system d

If my video and media are on a Fast RAID array then do i need a fast system drive?

Say I built one of the systems recommended on this page.
And I have a RAID array for my video - but my System drive is an older UltraDMA EIDE133 250g Maxtor. This system drive is testing at 51mb/s Read, and 26mb/s write. -According to Blackmagic disk speed check program.

A New SATA drive tests at 53 write and 43 read. So should i bother upgrading my system drive or stick with the older EIDE drive? Main Programs i use are Adobe After effects, premiere pro, Photoshop for uncompressed editing with blackmagic intensity.

Specs:
MB: Tyan K8WE
AMD Opteron 270 (dual)
4GB RAM.
Nvidia Quadro FX 560
Apple cinema Display 30'
4x500gb RAID array (2TB total) on Nvidia SATA motherboard controler.

the system drive doesn't need the 'speed'... just space for OS & programs.
some people love the idea of a 10 second boot up. I could care less.

your scratch & media drives need the speed.

heck, I use older IDE 133 drives in my RAID and get no dropped frames. Since they work for me, why buy new ones. (FYI I only do SD)

4GB is a bit too much memory for WinXP or has things changed?

2 terabyte? Shocked do you think that will be enough? Laughing

I have 4GB but only 2.75GB shows up in Windows XP pro right now - but i intend to eventually go 64-bit at some point at which i can utilize all of it i hope.

For me there is never enough space. No matter what i alwasy fill it up - but thats cause i make a living shooting event videos and commercials in HD.

Win XP can handle up to 4 GB of memory (including video and audio memory). So, depending on your video memory and dimm configuration WIN XP will only recognize part of the total (though BIOS will tell u that u have 4 GB of RAM), also win xp wont alocate more than 2 gb of memory to a single aplication.
