Is this worth re-using when I upgrade my PC or is it prehistoric now?

BTW, I use Premiere Pro.

Get a new one that will be a PCI express card... It doesn't have to be the most expensive video card on the market. Just look for Direct X support, OpenGL, and 512 of RAM.

that card, you have, is a bit old

Matrox just does not have the horse power Nvidia does anymore and are only good in select situations. For editing because of Open GL effects and realtime playback, the quadro is the way to go anymore. If you can afford it then the Quadro 1500 is the best card price-for-performance. Its about twice as fast as the 1400 memory bandwith wise and its not much more on the price.
