Best NLE for scripting standard edits and renders?
on Nov 6, 2006 at 1:21:50 pm

Hi all,

we have a process which needs to be repeated for many projects. Currently we do this manually and it is becoming inefficient to continue.

Each project has two source videos (call them src1 and src2). The videos are 30-60minutes long and are basically different shots of the same content. The post production starts by importing the sources and dropping them onto 2 tracks, aligning their timelines and doing a small amount of editing to cut talent mistakes out of both tracks simultaneously (generally just 30 minutes work). We then need to perform the following steps:

[list=1:f8ce45cd3e]<*>Insert a standard opening clip before the main body clip and insert a standard closing clip after it on both tracks.
<*>Chromakey src1 and composite with a still image background, resize and render to output1 (a WMV file)
<*>Resize src2 and render to output2 (also a WMV file)
<*>Resize src2. Chromakey src1, resize/reposition and composite with src2. Render composited tracks to output3 (an MP4 file)
[/listSurprised :f8ce45cd3e]
We are looking for an NLE and/or NLE+plugins that will allow us to automate as many as possible of the numbered steps. Any suggestions?

R
