i've got a n00b question that seems like it should be pretty easy to answer for sb in the know. i've got a bunch of mpegs and i'd like to reduce their file size by about 10% [i.e., final file size is ~90% of original] maintaining the same image size and the highest quality possible. [or even more if i can get away w/it and not sacrifice the quality noticeably.] how can i do this? for example, it seems like converting the vids from 25fps to 24fps would do that -- right? or would recompressing them somehow do that? any other ideas?
what kind of software would i need to get the job done?
Well you wont be able to reduce the size to 90% as that will be too much... You wont be able to maintain the quality then. However you can use any audio/video compressor for this job. All you have to know is the bit rate compressing. The lower you keep the bit rate the lower will be the quality. An intelligent person is he who sets the bit rate so that the size is minimum and quality fine. This will take a little time and practise.
