Vegas 6 Video Capture Causes XP Reboot
on Sep 3, 2006 at 10:18:35 am

When I use Video Capture on Vegas 6.0D after about 30 seconds the computer reboots. Any advice would be appreciated.

System
MOBO: ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe
Processor: Pentium D, 945 3.4ghz, LGA775
OS: Windows XP SP2
Video Card: NVIDIA Quadra FX540

Connecting via Firewire on the card included with Vegas 6.0.

Since no one had any suggestions for me, I reformatted the HDD, reinstalled XP Pro and then BEFORE installing Norton, I loaded the drivers for the video card, ethernet, and Sound. I also downloded all the MS updates for XP Pro. I had already updated the BIOS on the Mobo.

Then I installed Vegas. Everything is now working OK - captured over 16 minutes of video from my camera with no blue screen of death. Looks like it was Norton inteferring during the previous installation, though there were other issues like a SATA controller that seemed to be installed 4 times and would not allow itself to be deleted.

Antivirus checkers like Norton can be a pain to NLE's, but if you need to go on the www etc. with that machine it might be a good idea to keep it - but it can be frustating Confused
