I've just built a PC with a dual core AMD 4600 AM2 on a ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. The PC appears fine until I open Avid Media Composer. Even before I open a project the CPU maxes out at 100%. The problem only seems to exist with this program... I swapped the motherboard with a Foxconn and got the same result... Could this be a faulty CPU or am I doing something stupid.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Avid strongly recommends Intel over AMD. We've found that AMD dual-core machines deliver better results then Pentium dual-cores - but we expect that to change once we get our hands on a Conroe based solution.
There could be an AMD / MC Soft conflict. You're going to have to contact your local Avid support gropup on this one.
