G-Tech G-Raid...
on Jul 28, 2006 at 2:24:12 am

...is the worst thing on the planet.

I just finished editing a squence after a couple hours of hard work. Happy with the results, I went ahead and saved my file -- I used the keyboard shortcut, CTRL-S and watched the Save dialog box open and its status bar buld to 100% and close. Filed saved. So I turned off the G-Raid and went for a beer. 3 seconds later I see an error message, something like "delay write failed" and it corrupted my file. And I lost all that work. I've used MANY external drives before and never seen a delay write before. Never. Especially after the save dialog finshes and closes.

Good thing I had a beer!

I'm done using this drive. And can't imagine buying another thing from G-Tech again. I wish I was warned that you should leave it on until God knows when to actually save your data. Total B.S.

Just my experience...

you are not alone. this product is unusable and it is a disgrace that it is being sold by anyone. go to gtech tech support fourm at http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_view_posts.cgi?forumid=176 to see that you are not alone. videoguys tech support merely sent me to gtech. there appears to be no solution. good luck getting an answer from gtech on their support forum. calling is better in terms of hearing a voice; still has not solved the problem

Stop the pain! Write Delay to G-Tech and others.

First thing is to check out this link. Hopefully this will solve your issue with the Delayed Write Failure... http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330174&sd=RMVP

Then you can hopefull point the finger at Microsoft instead of us. There is a known issue with large file copies in Windows. Whether it is our drive or any other manufacturers RAID drive. Please give it an attempt.
If this fails, we would be able to support you if your drive is the source of the problem by filling out the support form here:
http://www.g-technology.com/Support/Support.cfm?Loc=Contact

We apologize for any inconvenience in advance. Thanks for your feedback.
