I recently bought a DVD recorder and have been copying a bunch of my VHS tapes to DVD.
NOTE: These are mostly baseball instruction and things that are NOT available commercially on DVD!
Anyway, I ran into several tapes that the DVD recorder says are "uncopyable". I pulled out my old video stabilizer and continued on.
I have come across about 6 tapes that STILL say they're uncopyable. I figured my stabilizer was so old that maybe it didn't correct for some newer things so I bought a Sima CT-2 GoDVD. Got it yesterday and those 6 tapes STILL say "UNCOPYABLE"!
What's the deal?
What are they protected with?
What can I do to get around it?
I almost bought a stabilizer called "Facet Video Clarifier", does anyone know anything about it? It claims to "Removes ALL Copy Protection, Macro%#@&* and CGMS/A".
I went with the GoDVD based on the VideoGuys recommendations, plus it was a bit cheaper. Does the Clarifier handle some protection that the GoDVD doesn't?
