RT.X100 AMD Compatible Motherboards
on Jun 22, 2006 at 5:52:55 pm

Since the general consensus is AMD X2's offers the best performance vs Intel duel cores, I am looking for a AMD Motherboard (939/940 or AM2) that is compatible with the Matrox RT.X100 video capture card and Premier Pro 1.5. My objective is to use what I have now, but build a system that I can drop in an RT.X2/Premier Pro 2.0 package in the future. HELP!!!

Matrox warns against AMD dual cores for RTX.100. They recommend them highly for the new RT.X2, but apparently there are some design issues that get int he way with the retx.100

Your most likely compatible choice for the X2 chips is the Asus A8R-MVP or the Asus A8R32-MVP. Both boards use the Crossfire chipsets north bridge and Uli south bridge. Uli has shown probably the most compatible and stable south bridge chip of the year suprisingly. I would start there.
