Trim video without transcoding?
on May 30, 2006 at 5:33:08 am

Is there an application out there (preferably free) that will allow me to trim a couple of minutes off the end of a .wmv file quickly without having to transcode or re-encode it again?

I created the .wmv file from an existing .mpg file which was captured from my Sony DV (HiCool Camera using Windows Movie Maker.
For some reason, the .wmv file has 30 sec or so too much video. I just want to quickly trim the end without changing the file format or bit rate or anything.

btw...I have Showbiz 2 and Adobe Premiere Elements 2 at my disposal

Yes there are several of them, each sypporting different formats.
One of the best out there is the
AVI-MPEG-ASF-WMV Splitter 2.xx
It does the true cut without recoding. I think that you can do few splits with the trial version, google for it.

Dear Erica, who cares if you trust them or not?

This is not a Woodoo.
It's a software we are takling about.
!!! READ BEFORE YOU POST !!!
You are way out of topic.
"Trim, Cut & Split functions without recoding". -Do you understand English?
Not "Convert, Recode, Transcode" and other time wasting functions.
Does It feel brighter now?

For converting, I choose yasasoft, yasa video converter is better than xilisoft. It is more stable. It works fine for all time.
