I've run into a snag with installing XP Pro on my DIY PC. I had previously installed it and it loaded without a hitch but couldn't get my PC to recognize my harddrives. Disc Mgr wouldn't do anything, I went into BIOS setup, did a CTL I after arrays were being recognized. Went in and made one drive nonraid for OS & Apps, the other 2 for RAID0. Rebooted and XP tried to start but hung on opening. (well duh, of course, cuz boot drives were erased)
Sooooo.... tried to reinstall XP...when it asks where to install...no drives are recognized...arrghh! When I tried anyway...I get a bluescreen with message: check hardware/software/drivers/ yadayada. Everything is installed as per MB manual. BIOS is set as it should. But nothing on shadow ram or caching controls are apparent. I even did a CMOS clear (remove battery, move jumpers, reinstall battery, move jumpers). Still no luck with loading XP!!
Any ideas anyone? (I've got ASUS P5GDC Deluxe MB, 1024 DDR, Sony 720 cd/dvd, FX540 PCIe, 3 Seagate SATA @ 250gb ea.) Plenty of space and ram.) Drives are recognized in BIOS Array sweep. One nonraid, two RAID0.
Tried the remove drives trick....still no luck installing XP Pro SP2. Been reading all the different tricks others have posted on ASUS Mobo forum for my Mobo....still no workie. Will try the above posted info. Here's hoping.
