What is a good graphics add-on for FCPX?

I see a lot of videos online that have very slick looking graphic overlays to add a professional touch to projects. Youtube vloggers and such, mostly.

These are either floating moving graphics/text, glint highlights that pop out from reflective surfaces (like when someone puts a starburst on a smile) and hand drawn outlines surrounding objects in video. An example would be a car driving and a line is traced around the front grille during motion.

I know you can import graphics with FCPX and add some movement, but is there an add-on application that makes this easier?

Would like to stick with FCPX for my editing, but was just looking for suggestions to kick it up a bit.

Thanks!

Apple Motion is the $50 for life app that is comparable in many ways to Adobe After effects. It is what all those plugin effects are created with. If you want to learn how to create all those things yourself, then learn Apple Motion. Ripple Training is the best place. If you want to use those kinds of effects in FCPX, then purchase any number of FX from video hive, FXfactory, MotionVFX, MotionMasterTemplates, LenoFX, and of course BretFX.

I forgot core melt. They make slicex, drivex, and trackx. Plugins that do things like track the front of a car and add objects, or blur, or colorize, etc.

Phew. That's a lot of options. Thank you.

If I just buy Apple Motion is that a good start? (I'll have to look up the app, I'm not at all familiar with it) or do I get that AND the plug-ins?

Yes, I think most people have mentioned some Adobe app when I ask them, but I forge which.

Yes, get Motion for sure but make sure you get training on it or you will be very frustrated. The biggest problem I see with FCPX and Motion users is they don't get proper training and then blame the software when "it doesn't work".

Ripple Training's Motion tutorials by Mark Spencer are among the best IMHO.

The Adobe program people mention is probably After Effects. I don't recommend it for a beginner.

I did a quick look at the Motion tutorials and YouTube videos and it seems they are pretty much focused on TEXT and transitions.

I'm more interested in putting graphic overlays on top of the video. Having a line drawn on screen to outline a feature or give shiny features an extra glint, etc.

Is there a better tool for that than Motion? As my videos are not text heavy, I'm currently content with what is built into FCPX for those.

Thanks again.

Some decent plugins will help you with that.
There are ton of resources out there but you will need to learn how to implement them into FCPX.
