Is there a way to copy the color board (or other effect) from one clip and paste to another clip replacing the original color board in the second clip?

I don’t think there’s a paste and replace, but you can remove and then paste.

So, the sequence would be, copy effects the desired clip (command-c), select to the new destination clip, remove effects (option-command-x) and then either paste effects (option-command-v) which will paste all the audio and video effects from the clip copied, or paste attributes (shift-command-v), which will give a dialog box on which effects you'd like to paste from the copied clip to the destination clip(s).

That's what I thought. It's frustrating when color grading. If I have an adjustment to a clip that needs to apply to several other clips, it gets messy fast. Obviously not the best program for grading anyway.

If you have a scene or location, say “exterior of house” that needs a particular correction and you know you will use it a number of times you can make the correction once, save it as an effect, name it “House Exterior” and it appears in the effects browser. Then select all the clips that need that correction and drag that saved House Exterior effect from the browser on to the clips and you’re done. Pasting attributes or effects is a quick solution some times but you have to be careful with paste effects because it will affect both picture and sound in the clip you are applying the paste effects to and that may not be what you want.

Color Finale Pro really is the professional method for this, utilizing its group function. Apply a color grade to a clip and give it a particular group setting and you can copy and paste that color finale grade (or apply a new color finale and choose that group) and anytime you adjust that group grade on any of the instances, it will affect them all. Across sequences as well. No need to delete effects and reapply, hoping you've found all the instances of that particular grade.
