Decoding XML Import Warnings
on Jul 11, 2017 at 7:19:20 pm

Hi Guys,

I got the following warning when importing an XML. Everything appears fine in the project, but I'm worried there's something I didn't get that I don't know about. This is the warning:

Your XML was imported with the following warnings:
The effect ID is invalid. (ref="r10": /fcpxml[1]/library[1]/ event[1 ]/project[1 ]/sequ ence[1 ]/spine[1 ]/asset-cli p[1 ]/filterĀvideo [1 ]/@ref)

Anyone know what this XML import warning might be related to or how to read this warning in general so that I can find the culprit? Thanks!

- Ellen

What was the XML created in? I'd guess you're missing an effect but these messages are so cryptic it can't be more than a guess.

Thanks, Jeff.

The XML was created in FCPX, with Metadata View set to "General" and XML Version set to "Current Version (1.6)"

I didn't bring the XML through any other software, just straight from one apple computer to the other, both with the same version of FCPX running. I appreciate your guess at what's going on here!

Thank you,
Ellen

You might try running the XML through X-FX Handler. It can show you any effects, title or generators that are in the XML but unavailable on your computer.

Thanks, Jeff! That was just what I needed to de-code my FCPXML. I love this community!

Thank you,
Ellen
