I have a 2-hour bluRay we made on our FCPX system that now needs to be "ripped"; i.e. converted back into stand-alone mpeg 4 files I can put on a portable drive for the client that originated the project. I could use hints on free resources and techniques. This is our own IP and it's not copy-guarded or anything - we just need to get the program back off the disk and into files.
i read somewhere once that chaining the .mkv extension to .mov will make the subsequent conversion to ProRes a lot easier.
and i'd give that a try as the one time i converted mov to Prores it took over 18 hours for a 90min program
