Mixing 'Proxy' + 'Original' for mixed 4k + 1080p timeline

I’m working on a project with both 4k and 1080p footage. To playback the 4k smoothly I need to produce proxy files, whereas the 1080 stuff runs fine native. As I mix the two I’m left with a timeline like this (when 'Proxy' is enabled in the viewer):

1) Is there any way to have the timeline playback proxy (when available) and original/optimized (when proxy not there)?

2) If not, is there any way to batch-transcode proxies of all the clips on the timeline that don’t have a proxy yet? Or do I have to go clip by clip ‘Revealing in Browser’ and then right-clicking to ‘Transcode Media’ for each one.

THANKS A TON!!

No you can't mix proxy and optimized/original.

Highlight all the media in the event, right click and choose to transcode media. Then choose proxy. If it already has proxy it won't create it again.

Thanks Bret. Just to clarify though, there's no way to 'batch-transcode' ONLY those clips which I have included on a project timeline (instead of transcoding all the clips in the event, which in this case are many).

Make a smart collection at the library level (in the Smart Collections folder) that only shows Used media. It will populate with all the media in your open sequence. So make the smart collection, open your sequence, select all the clips in the Used smart collection and create proxies.

Of course! Sorry, haven't been using FCPX for very long, forgot about the 'Used Media' filtering option. Thanks so much!!

Hi
Select project in the browser, then File-Transcode media...
