Importing from Panasonic AG-HPX600

Hi, I´m importing from the Panasonic AG-HPX600.

FCPX separates video and audio to separate files.

Is there a solution to avoid that?

Thanks, Lars

Describe your ingest workflow starting from attaching the card to your Mac.

Hi,

I put the P2 card in a reader, then drag and drop the complete folder in finder, to my Promise Pegasus drive.

In FCPX I press command I, and import all.

I have also tried to drag and drop the folder from finder to FCPX.

In both cases FCPX creates Keyword collections för VIDEO, AUDIO and ICONS.

The video files is only video, and audio files is only audio.

Try mounting the card and selecting as media in the import window not just dumping all files into an event

Isn´t that what I´m doing when using command I?

As I described before, I´ve tried both drag and drop, and the import window.

But are you selecting file names or actually seeing full clips with frames in the Import window? It sounds like you're dragging in the entirety of the card which is why you're getting separate pieces of media.

That said I've heard of this issue before I believe you need a driver from Panasonic to resolve it:

A strange thing is that can only see files, not folders, in the import window.

That´s for everything, example Canon C300 and Sony F5.

I will try the driver later.

Thanks, Lars

What version of MacOS / FCPX are you running?

Could you post a screen shot of the Import window?

It looks like this.

I´m not sure if this upload works. If not, it´s also on wetransfer, https://we.tl/loBmXextaC

First thing I notice is that you don't appear to have the entire card structure. I only have older P2 archives, but (and this is a big but) - for FCPX to import this media properly, you need the entire card structure. It looks like you've renamed the 'CONTENTS' folder, and removed the 'LASTCLIP.TXT' file:

*EDIT* It's difficult to tell in the above screen shot, but the text file is not in the CONTENTS folder, but instead is loose inside the 'card2' folder.

It is fairly simple to re-create the LASTCLIP.TXT file, so let us know if it's missing.

If the text file is actually present in the Finder, then simply renaming the enclosing folder to 'CONTENTS' (and putting that with the text file in yet another, descriptive folder, like 'MalmoP2') should result in the desired outcome. ;^)
