Subtitles and Chapter Lists
Finally this is a kind of follow up for 2 recent posts on fcp.co.
But probably some people here also might be interested.
One post was asking for chapter lists, the other was about subtitle import.
For those who need chapter lists I took some new code and added this to the existing code in X-Title Importer.
The first version 3 weeks ago had been buggy creating while creating wrong timecodes. This now is fixed.
For FCPX 10.3 users it includes a nice feature: you can drag a project (timeline) directly from FCPX browser to the XTI main window - no XML export needed.
BTW this stuff is free, doesn't require moving money out of your wallet.
The other question about a unknown XML subtitle example import turned out to be a bit more complicated.
Now it is solved.
But the example shows an interesting issue with FCPX: bad performance. The generated XML import takes a little while but nothing to worry about, opening the project though takes about 8 - 16 minutes. Doing changes can cause similar long delays. The reason for that was/is the massive amount of Motion Templates in use.
Anyway the original problem is solved with a more relaxed dfxp/ttml W3 import forgiving special timecode overlaps.
2nd BTW; Dire Straits fans (money for nothing, cheques for free) might have missed another free feature convert 18 subtitle formats to STL text for free. 😉 😉
STL easily can be used in text editors and especially spreadsheet sheets for changes, translations and then be converted by other free tools to SRT, SCC for use on web etc.
