TimeLine line DOES NOT scroll & update

I just upgraded to 10.3.

When I hit play, my project begins playback.
However in the "Timeline", once the scrolling position line gets to the far right side of the screen, playback continues but the Timeline DOES NOT update and scroll forward. Instead the "Timeline" still shows the previously played footage (the window does not update &scroll forward)!

Once I hit "STOP", only then does the "timeline" window update and scroll forward to show the currently playing footage and the surrounding footage.

How can I get FCP 10.3 to "Timeline" window to update and auto scroll forward to always showing the current playback area???

Does any one here have first hand experience with the FCPX hacks stuff? I can see that there are a number of features that are really useful, however I am wondering about the disclaimer about using the software on mission critical edit projects....

If I understand correctly it essentially applies OS-level automation onto FCPX and possibly futzes with config files as well. I've not heard anyone say so far that it caused any major issues. But I would take the warning to heart as there's no one to blame/support if it wildly hoses a project/library. Still it does have some tempting features.

I have been playing with FCPX Hacks for a month or so and providing some feedback to Chris Hocking, its creator. It is beta level software and has some hacks (hence the name) as well. He has the following disclaimer on :

"DISCLAIMER: As some of the Advanced features in FCPX Hacks make changes to Final Cut Pro’s internal files (which requires your Administrator password), please take care when using on mission critical or production systems. However, FCPX Hacks basically sits “on top” of Final Cut Pro, so it shouldn’t ever cause Final Cut Pro to crash to slow down."

FCPX Hacks runs under Hammerspoon ( ) So it you are running into wonky behavior in FCPX with FCPX Hacks/Hammerspoon running, simply quit Hammerspoon. No Hammerspoon, no FCPX Hacks. My experience is that it is a work in progress but has in no way screwed up my system while delivering mission critical stuff.

I love FCPX Hacks and I encourage its development. Let's face it, Apple is historically slow (if ever) to implement user requests. Chris has done some fine work trying to get around that. What's fascinating (as I understand it) is that a lot of what Chris is enabling exists in the FCPX code. So things like the number one request on ... a Scrolling Timeline ... has been there all along. Chris simply "turned it on". For me, it's like telling Apple to suck it for not responding to the professional community. Go get 'em, Chris! (rant off)

Give it a shot.
