Anyone upload to Vimeo here?
on Nov 30, 2016 at 8:42:49 pm

All the videos are now "Untitled" after upgrading to 10.3 a few weeks ago.

I tried deleting and resetting up the account, but it had no effect.

I'm not seeing that problem here. I upgraded to 10.3 about a week after it was released, then 10.3.1 this morning, and my direct-to-Vimeo uploads have all had the correct titles (although Vimeo was giving us issues about a week ago where half the uploads failed, but I think that was a Vimeo-side issue and not FCPX).

I uploaded 6 or so videos today and they all went through fine.

Crap. I was hoping it was going to be an easy fix! ☺

Thanks for the response.

Yes. It's happening from all of our machines going to the same Vimeo account.

I've inquired over at Vimeo, too.

I'm having the same issue with direct uploads to Vimeo. Vimeo is pointing the finger back at Apple. This is the first mention I've seen of this issue anywhere. Time to start a thread on the Apple FCPX Support page ...

Thanks for chiming in. I got the same response from Vimeo saying it was Apple's doing since they are using the Vimeo API.

I am thinking about creating another account to see if that account works as it should.

So, I created a free account and uploaded something, and the title stuck.

This seems like a Vimeo problem, not an Apple problem.

I called ProApps support and they were unaware of this problem. They encouraged me to send feedback through FCPX. Anyone with the same problem should do the same. Ya would think that Vimeo would be a bit more helpful than passing the buck. I think I'll go rattle their cage ...

[Robert Griffiths] "They encouraged me to send feedback through FCPX. "

I sent feedback yesterday, but if the problem is intermittent, it may be hard to track down.

Since it seems to work from some accounts and not other accounts, I can't imagine this is an Apple problem, but who knows.

I just upgraded to 10.3 a couple of days ago and shortly thereafter shared a couple of videos directly to my Vimeo account. No problems that I can detect.

Here's a thread on Vimeo about this problem. Terry Maday did create a new account and that solved the Untitled uploads problem. So it must be account based. Feel free to pile on here: https://vimeo.com/forums/help/topic:286666

Still having the same issue with the 3 files I uploaded today. One more thing: Any Description you might have added doesn't show up on Vimeo either. I'll tag this on Vimeo too.

Vimeo said they were going to move the conversation offline, but haven't heard from them.

I'll restart the conversation, too.

Thanks for following up!

I upload A LOT to Vimeo. Just recently over 60 Clips. Didn't have that issue with any of them. That would REALLY suck, too, if I did, because that's the only reason I even use the direct upload (wish it would save a copy to disk as well!), because I use extensive tagging, descriptions etc. that would kill me to have to redo manually.

Hope it figures itself out!

Yesterday, I posted a video to Vimeo and the name appeared like it used to. Maybe they fixed it and didn't tell us? Check it out. YMMV.

[Robert Griffiths] "Funny ... I thought it was fixed. I just uploaded a video today and ... it's still broken. Who wants to give them a nudge? Maybe we all should."

Never saw the issue during the original thread activity - and I've uploaded at least 30 videos the last 60 days and had problems with none of them.

This must be somehow localized to how your accounts are interacting with the Vimeo system - or some glitch on their side.

I'm exporting out of FCP X 10.3.2 with a Sierra 10.12.3 system on a Mid 2015 Retina MBPro with everything current using Safari 10.0.3 build 12602.4.8

When I auto-upload directly from my storyline - all the metadata shows up properly.

Sorry you guys are having issues.

Hate to say it, but… same here. Even just uploaded a LONG, random clip to test. No problem. LONG because I've ironically been having issues with YouTube lately, getting -1001 errors and incomplete uploads on 3+ minute clips. Never had it before. I'm left having to upload manually, which works fine, but is extremely annoying, since I obviously lose any and all metadata aside from the name.

This problem is decidedly at an individual level. My export from FCPX to Vimeo vs. yours, Robin. As to the cause, that's above my pay grade. Any thoughts on what I, or anyone else with the problem might try to fix this would be appreciated.
Thanks!

OK, today I got a reply from one of the Vimeo support people. Guess what? We are back where we started when "Terry Maday" first reported this problem:

“Our engineers have done testing around this issue and from what we can tell it's a bug on Apple's implementation of our API. We have reached out to our contacts at Apple for updates, but at the moment we have no news to share. Our apologies for any inconvenience this causes you!"

Hey Jeremy, does your status as a forum leader here carry any weight with Apple or Vimeo? This is just plain silly.

Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I have no more sway than any one else. I am a mere mortal.

After checking the thread, there's more people that have this issue. It weird that this would be an Apple problem if some work and some don't, and everything points to working, including the proper file name in the activity window while being uploaded. I don't doubt this is a difficult issue to chase, but Vimeo has not reached out like they said they would.

It's official. Check the latest: https://vimeo.com/forums/help/topic:286666#comment_15500678

Vimeo says it's an Apple bug and that Apple knows about it. So they are washing their hands of this. The best we can do is send bug reports to Apple and/or call ProApps support.

I tried again today and still the same problem. I also deleted the Vimeo Destination in FCPX and created a new one. No luck.

Sorry the news couldn't be better.

Vimeo says it is Apple's fault for bad implementation of their API. Apple acts like they have never heard of it and has no idea what they are talking about. We gets piss poor service from both of them and pay for the privilege.

I too am ready to dump Vimeo ...
