iMac 27" i5 with M395x GPU FCP 10.3 (Where To Put Files)?

So I am coming from PC with Adobe... Mostly editing 4K from Osmo and Phantom 4 (30FPS and 1080 60fps) and 1080 (30fps) from Canon 6D.

need some help from people with more experience on how to manage and structure folders etc.

Here is the hardware:
27" with i5 and M395x (4GB) GPU
2 TB Fusion inside (128gb ssd)
1TB Samsung T3 SSD - USB 3.0
4 TB 3.0 Seagate (for TimeMachine backing both up)
2TB Slow Storage drive for incidentals as needed and to archive to extra hard drives for deep storage

Do I keep raw import files on internal Fusion? Do I bother with proxies? Suggested folder structures?

That would depend entirely on how much footage and at what resolution. I personally would pick up a cheapish Thunderbolt drive and use that for media.

Teehee- I have no idea how much available space you have on your drives which would be another key consideration. Logically you would put as much as would fit on the external drive and edit proxy to keep things simple and smooth.

800GB free on external T3 and 1.5 TB free on internal Fusion

I found that Time Machine interfered with FCPX editing, at least in the past because it would be backing up when I needed full speed in rendering or compressing or other intensive computation. So I use SuperDuper and back up when I am not editing. I put my media in the libraries and keep them on a fast external drive (Raid 0 ) for editing. I am just not careful enough to keep the media separate. I can always transfer the full library off to a slow cheap USB drive, when finished.
