opening .fcpproject file
on Jul 20, 2016 at 2:07:32 pm

Hi All,

I'll start by saying I have only opened FCPX a few time so please be patient with me. I received a project from a client and I'm unable the FCPX project. See attached. Things I have tried: created a Final Cut Project folder and dragged the CurrentVersion.fcpproject into that folder. Tried opening library from Backups folder. I have a feeling I'm missing files from the client, mainly the original media and FCPX files. Any direction would be helpful of getting this to work.

Thanks,

John

Generally you need the entire Library or an fcpxml to open an FCPX created project. The CurrentVersion.fcpproject is not enough on its own.

Thanks Noah for getting back to me. Hopefully I can get the rest of the information from the client.

I wonder what would happen if you created a new library with nothing in it, then in the finder right click it, show package contents, and replace the .fcpproject. It might work?

You'd have no media... .fcpproject. is basically a Project timeline, no media nothing else.
