I finish my multicam edit which I posted a bit about earlier. All Done. I was editing in proxy mode since I had a bunch of angles and a sort of slow disk drive. No matter, all files were contained in the library, both original and proxy. If it matters I made proxy files after I imported and cut in proxy mode. I make one last edit and switch over to original media and one of my angles is completely off line. I try to relink to the files in the library but no go . FCPX tells me the files I am trying to link to have audio and the originals did not, except that the originals DID have audio. So I'm on deadline and about to deliver and FCPX suddenly shits all over the place.

Any thoughts on this. clearly X thinks there is an audio discrepancy which is not the case. IS there a secret escape route I can take ?

I'm on 10.2.3 , yosemite running on an iMac. My system is really normal, no funny biz

So the angle that has disappeared, the source of the yellow triangle, was a BMPCC file pro res. In project browser the time code for each clip starts at 0 and the duration is zero which is probably the FCPX screw up. If I show package contents of the library the BMPCC files are aliases which is weird since when I imported the files into the library they should have been copied to the library.....

Did you use the import window when they were still on cards? Did you make a camera archive?

Sometimes if FCP X is quit while it's media managing in the background it won't tell you there are background tasks still going.

It's frustrating.

You can in the multicam angle viewer hit shift-r to replace the clips if you still have them backed up elsewhere and can import them.

I do have the clips backed up. The director emailed me with one last change - a cut to a different angle for the close. I open the project , make the cut. am a bout to share and realize I need to switch to original media. I make the switch and the project goes off the rails, yellow triangles abound. Makes me wonder why some one would cut a feature on X when a 17 minute cut in multicam blows up this easily.

Interesting. And you made the Proxies after import inside of FCPX, correct? I just did a 75minute 3 camera multicam pretty much the same way, except I created the proxies on import. I

And when you say yellow triangles, you are saying that media is actually missing on the timeline, correct?

Yep . Created proxies after import . Fcpx gives the Option to do that . Basically all my BMPCC footage is yellow triangles . The one clip that I actually need for the cut I'm working on is the focus now . I did a little work on it after tearing hair out ( took me 10'seconds to make the last requested change and 2 hours of mucking around trying to get my original footage back in the multi am clip ) I'm still not sure I'm back 100% and won't till later today when I can open the project again .

X and I have sort of kissed and made up. I reimported the needed clip which was the master shot in my multicam clip and get it synced up without blowing up the project. Multicam is really pretty sweet once you have a groove going and makes multi camera editing so easy... Its pretty frustrating when something like what happened in my case where all I had to do was change the final shot of the project and the world comes tumbling down for some explicable reason as a result. I still have another project to cut using Multicam, so fingers crossed this next one goes much better.
