Pegasus R4 - replacing drives
on May 19, 2016 at 11:39:52 pm

Pegasus support tell me they only tested 4tb drives in a Pegasus R4 - I'd like to replace my 1tb drives with 4x 5tb or 6tb Hitachi drives - anyone have experience of putting in larger sized drives - any problems?

Not seeing the connection to FCPX in this question- that said I can't imagine you'd have an issue with higher capacities unless the firmware specifically forbids them.

Thanks Noah - I only use my Pegasus for media edited in FCP X and assumed other FCP X users the most likely to have experience of larger drives. Also got no response in "Arrays" :-)

Shouldn't be a problem with larger drives, we purchased a few Pegasus R4s and placed our own 2s to 4 TB drives.

Cheers - Promise advise they tested / support 4tb drives; was hoping to go 5-6tb but playing safe with 4tb

I have a bunch of aging 1st gen R4s. The sweet spot ($) now is 6TB drives and will be testing those shortly. Will post back results.
