Hi,

Is there a way to exporter a FCP X timeline or Project to FCP 7 without using X27?

Thanks in advance.

Resolve might do it via XML but Xto7 is your best bet. It's been a long while since I used Xto7, or XtoCC as it is now but keep in mind that any trip back to FCP 7 is going to be a dumbed down version of the project because 7 ain't that smart.

Thanks for the info. Here is what I am trying to do.

I have a 20 minute timeline in FCP 7, I exported it as an XML from FCP 7. I used 7toX and brought it into FCP X. I want to be able to do a color correction in FCP X, export it through XML back into FCP 7 where all of the color changes are still present that I did in FCP X.

How can I accomplish this? Please give me step by step instructions.

Thank You in advance.

Not possible. The color correction effects in X don't match those in 7, so there's no correlation between the two. You could render out a "flattened" master file from X and bring that back into 7 if you like. Then the color correction will be "baked" in.

As Oliver pointed out, the only way to do this is export video with baked-in correction. In some cases, you may also see a gamma shift when you bring your newly exported file(s) into 7.

I guess I'm wondering why you wouldn't simply finish the project in FCPX, now that you've got it in there...
