Sharing projects between editors (non-networked)
on Mar 22, 2016 at 1:18:56 pm

Hi - I'm editing a documentary project in FCP X and I've hired another editor to work at her studio. We are trying to figure out a way to update projects that each of us cut in each others libraries. Of course we don't want to send huge files back and forth. As in FCP 7, is there a way in X to take a project (i.e. sequence) and send it via email/dropbox, etc. and then reconnect on the other end. Or maybe there is a better workflow. Thanks very much!

Project timelines can be imported/exported via XML. Or entire Libraries can be shared, assuming media is stored externally to keep file size down. The key is both editors having identical sets of media.

Thanks. Was thinking XML is the key - but just to confirm, there is no equivalent to sending a project/sequence (drag and drop) as there was in FCP 7?

Project as it existed in FCP7 and earlier's nearest equivalent is a Library.
