HI -- I'm editing a full-length doc and have about 30 hours of interview material (it is all transcribed). I've heard that for MediaComposer7, Avid had an app called ScriptSync at one point, but it is now discontinued because of licensing issues. It's an app that would -- I believe -- use the text of an interview transcript to automatically locate the matching footage on the drive. This is something that would be hugely helpful to me in my project.
Is there an app / plug-in that serves this function for FCPX?
ScriptSync would allow you to 'marry' a script to it's corresponding video (ex. you would click on a place in a script and the video would be loaded into your source monitor) where as PhraseFind would allow you to search for a specific word or phrase (with varying degrees of accuracy) w/o the need for a script. Separate but related functions.
Boris has a product called Soundbite which functions similarly to PhraseFind (some technology powers both).
FWIW - Script integration is still there in Media Composer. It's the automatic indexing by audio (ScriptSync) that used licensed IP, as does PhraseFind. The features related to that IP aren't available in newer versions. The script function can still be used, however, the front end has to be done manually.
