FCPX and El Capitan

I read (don't recall the issues exactly) that there were issues with FCPX and El Capitan, back when El Capitan came out.

Have those issues been addressed?

I have been waiting to upgrade to El Capitan primarily due to FCPX compatibility.

Thanks.

Some users report that it works fine, with a few small UI glitches.

I haven't updated yet, and there hasn't been an FCPX release that has been released after the El Captian roll out. FCPX was updated just before El Capitan released.

The bigger question is if all of your plugins and filters will work with El Capitan. It's best to double check.

Does the new Metal core graphics technology work with FCPX? Was that support in the last FCPX release? Unless I missed it, I didn't see Apple reference FCPX in the Metal section of El Capitan.

I really don't think so since there hasn't been an X relase AFTER the El Capitan release.

FCPX is working fine for me with El Capitan. There can be some minor graphics glitches but nothing that will stop you using the app. As Jeremy mentioned, this version of FCPX doesn't specifically take advantage of any of the new technology on OS X but it does benefit from El Capitan just being a faster, more efficient platform.

It's only anecdotal on my part, but I definitely feel that FCPX is running faster under El Capitan.

Having said all that, my recommendation is always to wait until there's a post El Capitan release of FCPX before updating. I was just in a position where I had to do a clean install anyway, so I decided to give El Capitan a try.

I did the update on both my Mac Pro systems (silver boxes) and have had zero issues other than 1, spinning rainbow wheel. It's occuring more. Seems like El Capitan uses more resources than Yosemite. I'm trying to find a site that lays out the steps to optimize El Capitan for FCPX.

I thought that some people had an issue with the TimeCode display,
as the system fonts had changed.

I have not noticed this.

There is a problem with the timecode display but it's minor and makes no real difference to actually using FCPX.
