FCPX Multicam to Da Vinci Resolve

Greetings! This is my first post so please accept my apologies if it is in the wrong place.

I'm cutting a project on FCPX using Multicam (4 Angles). It is time to grade and I will be using Resolve 12 to do so. I've worked with Resolve and multicam a few times and I usually don't have any issues, however, this time, it seems to not show some of the angles.

What I would like to do, is "flatten" out my timeline into as little number of layers as possible in FCPX, Is there a way of finalising the timeline in FCPX by which you can remove the Multicam timeline and just keep the clips and cut that we used?

The footage is from C100 & C300 HD 1080P.

No. FCPX doesn't have this function.

Maybe your best option would be to export
a full resolution master file of your edit,
take that into resolve and then do a scene detection cut there...
Good luck

I was under the impression that Resolve 12 introduced multicam and support of FCP X multicam.

Unfortunately, I have to round trip. Good solution but not for this project.

Did you covert footage to prores in X? If not, that could be your problem. In the past, I have had issues with multicam projects in Resovle, using native footage h264 codecs.

Doesn't the XML from X always point to the original media, and not the optimized?

Resolve 12 is better for multicam than previous versions. It's unfortunate though that I have an issue where some clips aren't showing up. Which is why I had wanted to "flatten" it out in FCPX to reduce the chances of that happening.

Anyhow, I am going to try converting to a normal XML and see what happens.

Also, I remember hearing from some guys using Resolve
that certain flavours of fcpxml would pose problems
where others would work fine,
try the different versions (1.5 and 1.4) and particularly avoid
the extended metadata presentation which
I believe was what seemed to pose the most problems,
try using the general or the basic views.
Hope this helps...
