Fading Out 1 Video, 1 Detached Audio & 1 H4N using Custom Black

Hi,

I'm at the end of a Multiclip sequence that I just finished cutting. I am using 2 Audio sources. The top Audio track is the one that came directly from the camera (This is detached and This is low in the background, used just for a little ambience) The Bottom Audio track is from an H4N. (This is my main Audio.)

I want to put a 2 second dissolve at the end of the Video and both Audio tracks so everything fades out together.

I put a custom black at the end of the Video and put my dissolve in. No Problem

I put a custom black at the end of the Detached Audio from the camera. No Problem.

I put a custom black at the end of the H4N Audio and I get the following screen. (Please see Picture)

What can I do to fix this so all 3 fade out together?

Thanks in advance

FCP 10.2

Make them a compound clip - not that it's an answer to your specific issue but if you combine all three clips into one, you only need to add one fade. Much neater and I'd expect it to solve the problem.

I'll just add that while I haven't seen that specifi issue before, I think it's telling you that your audio doesn't end exactly on a frame boundary so FCPX is going to trim it back to the nearest frame.

Keep in mind that it's unusual, in my experience at least, to apply a fade to just an audio clip. I think most people would use the fade handles instead.

Adam did you figure out fade handles? It's apparent from a newer post than this that you don't know about fade handles. When you mouse over the end of a clip you should see a little circular dot draggy thing that you can drag away from the edge of the clip and you should see a little transparent triangle form representing the audio fade. Dissolving from an audio clip to a video clip is just odd. I'm surprised it even lets you

What's with all the custom black clips? You can add a dissolve to the end of a clip. There doesn't need to be a black clip. And with the audio is just drag out 2 sec fade handles.
