I'm using FCPX 10.2.2 on a Mid 2101 Mac Pro running dual ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB graphic cards. So, I have no rendering issues. Pretty fast. However, after booting up today to make changes on a timeline 98% complete, I noticed none of the effects I applied aren't rendered anymore. In addition, the effects are still active in the inspector but making changes to them is not reflected in the program window. Basically nothing is happening and none of the effects are applying. Also, I trashed the preferences which didn't fix the issue. Does anyone know if,
1) fcpx can be re-installed despite it coming from the cloud
2) effects can be re-installed or reset
3) is there a shortcut key at launch for fcpx that resets it?

or any other answers? Thanks

You can rest FCPX preferences by holding down the command + alt keys as you launch FCPX. I'd also try going to the file menu and deleting the library render files, both used and unused. A corrupt cache can sometime be the cause of the sorts of things you're describing.

To reinstall FCPX just drag it to the trash, empty the trash, reboot, then download it from the App Store again. Effects can be a bit tricker as they can be as simple as just a folder in the users movies directory or scattered over several locations, so If they don't include an uninstaller, I'd check with the specific effects support pages for an uninstall procedure. Possibly just installing the effect again will reset the install.

Thanks for the help. I'll try those. It's only the effects that come with FCPX that are doing this.

Good luck with it. Nothing worse than software that's mysteriously not working.
