Convert Canon footage to ProRess 422 HQ for editing?
on May 23, 2015 at 11:40:27 pm

Hi All,
I am new to FCP X and would like some advice. I am working with footage shot with Canon XF300. Should I convert this footage to Pro Res 422 HQ before importing it into FCP X for the highest possible resolution?

In Final Cut 7, I was able to import my media at 422HQ.
Can anyone point me to a workflow for working at this resolution or outputting to this resolution once I am finished editing?

Thanks!
Tina

I work with Canon XF from C 300 all the time . I wouldn't bother converting to pro res HQ . Its sort of a wasted step depending on what you are doing. I work natively with the Canon files and save the space, then output as pro res or what ever flavor I need at the out put stage.
