Not seeing MXF files

Hello Cows. Bit of an emergency here...

Did a clean install of Yosemite on my MacBook Pro Retina last week. Reloaded X, Compressor, etc. Wanted to import some MXF files today. No joy - just a green screen. Huh? I can see other media just fine. The MXF files I'm trying to import are files I've used as recently as a few weeks ago.

What am I missing?

Pro Apps Update?

App store says I'm up to date. Do't know if there's a way to force it to let me re-download the update. Though I presume it would be a part of the current 10.2 download already?

It's a separate update: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1396?locale=en_US

I just did a full reinstall last week and it had to update.

I reread your first post. This is a new library.

What camera shot the mxf files?

They are pull reels of avid media wrapped in a .mov extension. I've used these reels in several projects. I,veg also used raw avid McFadden files pulled directly from the Isis partitions.

Maybe I need to install avid codecs? I didn't recall doing that before, but maybe that's the problem.

[Jeff Markgraf] "Maybe I need to install avid codecs? "

Definitely. Yes. Once installed you'll get the media back.

Ahem. Yes,

I am what we in the TV business like to call "a moron."

I couldn't recall having loaded the Avid codecs on this machine Then I remembered that I had installed Avid v.7 on this computer quite some time before the Pro Apps update became available. So when I did the update before, the Avid codecs were already on the machine. Not so with the recent clean install. I just put them back on and all is well.

I thank you, Jeremy, for holding my hand and guiding me through this slightly humiliating misadventure.

Ha! I've been there.

Time Machine is truly great for things like this.

Last week, with cloud software downloads and TIme Machine, I went from a freshly deleted hard drive to back up and running with most everything installed in about 2.5 hours. It was very impressive for a start from zero clean install, and not a time machine restore.

I forgot a few things like custom fcpx templates, kb shortcut settings, share settings, and Compressor settings. I was able to reach in to my connected Time Machine drive and drag from it to my clean install and gain my settings back in mere seconds. This same techique would apply to codecs.

So, whoever may be reading this, buy a cheap drive and start up Time Machine, even for clean installs, it's very handy.

I read yesterday that the latest upgrade does not support panasonic.

[Kathy Murphy] "I read yesterday that the latest upgrade does not support panasonic.

The MXF reader supports op1a, not op-atom, at this time. Op-Atom gets rewrapped to .mov with audio and video joined.
