anyone use Automatic Duck Pro Export?
on Apr 27, 2015 at 9:06:25 am

hi all - just putting a case together to upgrade my 2008 mac pro and we're going to jump into X. my boss has found a mention of automatic duck pro export being needed for certain exports, but the article is a few years old now.

i can't find much info on this software and they didn't appear in an app store search so i'm guessing its been superseded but i'd like to be sure

any help much appreciated

thanks

Phil

Automatic Duck is I believe, long gone. The real question would be what were you planning to use it to convert?

Hi Jeff

to be honest, I'm not sure! We're just trying to cover every possible angle before we submit our case to the bosses.

Thanks for your help, i'll pass the info on, and fingers crossed roll on my new mac!

cheers

Phil

Hi Phil,

actually Automatic Duck is about to make a comeback.

They just sent beta testers 2 new versions of their products.

both read fcpxml and whilst the media copy does just that - read a project's xml and copies the used media to another location - ADXimport will translate a project's xml into an After effects project.

There is no date announced for the products but I hope they will be available soon, as well perhaps as other products.

hope this helps a bit

Argh. Screw AE. There's already ways to get it to AE. We need to get it to Motion.

I know, don't we all ? But maybe there are more ways than one ? Clip roundtripping as per FCP7 is interesting but Timeline (or portions thereoff) roundtripping would interest me too. If they can make it work for AE (which I don't use) maybe they can make it work for Motion ?

Also, I am quite happy that AD is coming back as I think that we need to have some competition to X2Pro audio. I like the product but it makes me nervous that there is no alternative. Or maybe Apple should, in the end, offer AAF export ?

We had full sequence or portion roundtriping in FCP 7. Not just clip roundtriping.

If memory serves, you highlighted whatever you wanted and chose send to motion. It first saved that chunk as a .motn file, and replaced the chunk with the embedded motn file which was of course opened and edited in motion. Pretty much just like premiere /AE.
