FCPX and Photoshop CC problem
on Mar 25, 2015 at 3:44:55 pm

Hello,

I have edited thousands of shows with .png files and FCPX.
I have been able to edit the files and they would update in FCPX, no problems.

I just updated PhotoShop CC and now have this problem.
You exit out of FCPX 10.1.4, update an image in the latest version of
PhotoShop CC and then open FCPX and discover that all the
clips/photos in that storyline are zoomed in. You cannot replace them
or change the size.

I always store images outside the library.
Leave files in place and uncheck create optimized media.

The first time this happened I was editing in Photoshop with FCPX open
and it affected every clip/photo in that storyline.
The next time I quit FCPX, edited a photo and bingo! Same problem.

The only way to fix it is import the clips/photos into another timeline
and start over.

It is something in the latest version of PhotoShop CC that is screwed up.
I am running FCPX 10.1.4 and right now if I have to edit a photo
I must save it with a new name and re-import.

This needs to be fixed!!!!

I do it everyday with PNGs and Photoshop CS5. Could it be a CC2014 issue? I used to have CC and never had the problem.

I has to be the last Photoshop CC update. I just installed 2014.2.2

Like I said, I did not have this problem until I updated PS.

I am running FCPX 10.1.4, PS CC 2014.2.2 & Yosemite 10.10.2.

OK I found this.....

Spatial Conform......

Now you have to set to NONE and then everything is normal......

Just yesterday I started having this same problem. I have PNGs with Ken Burns moves on them and randomly they will zoom way in. Changing the spacial conform settings do not make them go back to normal. My quick fix was to zoom out to 38%. But later I opened the project and found those clips really small.

I am working with Photoshop CS 5.1 though my PNGs originated as a PDF book which I exported out of Preview at 4650x2850 300dpi.

I never had this problem until I upgraded the latest PS CC version.
So it's weird that you are having the problem in PS 5.1?
Do you have PS CC installed?

I was only having the problem if I edited a photo that was already in a storyline......

Yes I also was adding Ken Burns effects.

But if you edit a file after it is put in a storyline and then resize it with spatial conform set to none,
then you cannot re-edit the Ken Burns effect......

I do not have PS CC installed. We are doing our best to stay away from the monthly fee.

I was not editing my PNGs when it would happen so I can only blame it on X and Ken Burns. :) I was wondering if it had anything to do with 300 dpi or the size of the files. 7 used to have odd issues with those things. I would guess that X doesn't care though.

I can only confirm that I started having this issue after upgrading to PS CC.

I have re-started my computer and that has changed nothing.

I edit about 2 shows a week and each show has about 150 .png files that are 6000x4000.

As I edit I would go back into Photoshop to tweak certain photos.....

This workflow has changed for the worse until I can figure out what is going on.
